Self-empowerment blares through the speakers, as the message to ‘love yourself’ on the radio pitches catchy hooks and punchy phrases.

People love authenticity, some even say it’s what sells the music, because after all what is art without the vulnerability?

Yet some would even say, no one cares about what you make by the end of the day if it doesn’t sell. A harsh reality we could disregard for the moment, but undeniably, there is an act to balancing the authenticity and marketability.

So how can artists create for themselves and for their audience?

Now see the great thing about not having a name for yourself yet is that you decide who gets to build it, and no one knows it better than you. Right now, the audience you need to impress is yourself.

Everyone can tell it differently but only you can tell your story, and what’s a song without one?

This is only the beginning for many songwriters.

Room Eleven Studios celebrates their one year anniversary of the workshop entitled Song Studio, a 4-day songwriting course open for all.

The workshop introduces fellow songwriters to the basics of songwriting, song structure, and appropriate tools for literary composition. Writers get to test what they’ve learned by dissecting some songs for themselves.

Not only will you get the chance to write your own material and openly discuss amongst fellow writers for feedback but you later get to come up with your demo for studio-recording as the workshop’s output.

Sounds exciting? You also get to touch on introductory production and studio experience as a growing artist, step by step.

As you can see, there’s more now to writing than just the poetry toplining a track. The workshop just doesn’t just focus on the technicalities of music, but the dynamics of collaboration and teamwork as part of the creative process.

After all, it’s all about finding your voice through a pen. If it’s not just the music by the end of the day, who would you want to be as a writer?

You decide.
